Hope Spring, a water poverty alleviation charity, proudly announced the completion and handover of its latest clean water project today. The announcement was made on the international development NGO website.
The project, an 80-meter deep borehole equipped with a powerful submersible pump, is able to pump water to a 5,000-liter capacity tank located on a raised platform. The water is then accessible to community members at a fetching area, which can accommodate up to five people at a time.
Funded by Hope Spring with support and materials from the beneficiary, the people of Ifedayo Community in Kwara State, Nigeria, the project faced delays due to inadequate funding and seasonal factors. However, everything finally came together in June of this year, allowing the project to move forward.
Temi Odurinde, a trustee of Hope Spring, expressed their satisfaction with the project, stating, “I am thrilled to see the completion and handover of the Ifedayo project to the community. It was a pleasure to work with the people of Ifedayo, who were actively involved every step of the way. With this project, the community will not have to worry about water for at least a decade.”
Hope Spring is on track to meet its goal of completing five clean water projects in Nigeria by 2024. Prior to the Ifedayo community project, the charity had successfully completed three other projects. The organization relies heavily on donations to fund its projects, with a majority of the contributions coming from Hope Spring eCards, a charity e-card platform that was established several years ago.
