The Great Green Barn, a 17th century barn located in Surrey, has recently undergone a restoration with a focus on traditional crafts. The result is a new venue space that is now open to the public, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and community.
Under the management of the Great Green Barn CIC, the renovated barn will showcase a diverse range of events including arts, drama, education, community gatherings, comedy, music, and crafting workshops. The venue is also available for hire by organizations and individuals who share the same eco-sustainable values.
Tickets for the Great Green Barn’s Autumn season are now on sale, offering a variety of events such as cookery classes, live theatre performances, games nights, and afternoon teas. Workshops and meetings hosted by local organizations will also be added to the calendar in the near future.
A unique opportunity to learn the art of Greek cooking will be offered in a 5-week course led by Georgios Nyfoudis, owner of London’s acclaimed Greek restaurant The Life Goddess. The classes will be held at the Great Green Barn and will feature hands-on experience and tastings of traditional Greek dishes.
For those looking for a more relaxed afternoon, the Great Green Barn will host monthly Afternoon Teas featuring locally made scones, finger sandwiches, cakes, and a selection of fine teas. This is a perfect opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
Game enthusiasts can look forward to monthly Board Games Nights at the Great Green Barn, where they can enjoy classic games such as Monopoly, Cluedo, and Backgammon, or bring their own favorite board game to share with others.
Live theatre performances will also be a regular feature at the Great Green Barn, with upcoming shows including “Ode to Joyce”, a tribute to the beloved entertainer Joyce Grenfell, and “The Essence of Audrey”, a one-woman show about the iconic Audrey Hepburn. These performances promise to be both entertaining and nostalgic.
And for a special Christmas treat, the Great Green Barn will host a Christmas Afternoon Tea with a live musical performance by acclaimed cabaret artist Stefan Bednarczyk.
Full details of all events, including dates, times, and prices, can be found on the What’s On page of the Great Green Barn’s website.
Vanessa Ford, founder and owner of Great Green Barn CIC, has been passionate about theatre since a young age and has finally fulfilled her dream of owning her own theatre space.
