AML Awareness Month: Get to Know Blood Cancer in September 2023

Last Updated on: 21st November 2023, 11:36 pm

Know AML, the first global education and awareness initiative for patients and caregivers of acute myeloid leukemia, has launched a series of campaigns throughout the year in recognition of Blood Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM). This September, Know AML will be encouraging people to #TalkAML with family and friends about access to mental health and wellbeing support, its benefits, and why it is important for those with AML and their caregivers.

“As a Know-AML Patient Ambassador for six years I have personally seen the tremendous change Know-AML has made for families receiving this challenging diagnosis,” said Ralph Hills, Know AML Co-chair and patient from the US. “Medical advances have accelerated during that time, clinicians are more aware of AML specific diagnostic details and personalized medicines have been announced. But it is only with the publication of this news, and the information Know-AML has created for patients and care-givers, that so many patients and families have been helped by these helpful videos and online publications.”

Know AML is brought to you by Scientific Education Support (SES) in collaboration with the Acute Leukaemia Advocates Network (ALAN). It is supported by Bristol Myers Squibb and ABBVIE. Know AML has a dedicated and highly experienced global ambassador group, consisting of patients and caregivers, patient advocates, healthcare professionals, and industry representatives, who meet regularly to steer and guide the initiative.

Everyone can make a difference during BCAM by downloading, editing, and sharing Know AML’s translatable assets, following the Know AML social channels, and using the hashtags #KnowAML and #TalkAML. You can also watch and share their video stories from people with AML and HCPs as they #TalkAML.

For more information on the TalkAML campaign, as well as resources and information to support patients and caregivers in the AML community worldwide, please visit the Know AML website. For any press and media enquiries, please contact ses_knowaml@scientificeducationsupport.com.
