“76th World News Media Congress to be Held in Krakow in 2025: WAN-IFRA Announces Host City”

The World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) has announced that it will be hosting its 76th World News Media Congress in Krakow, Poland from May 4 to 6, 2025. This highly anticipated event will be organized in partnership with Agora SA, the publisher of Gazeta Wyborcza.

With the theme “Mastering Media’s New Playbook”, the 2025 World News Media Congress aims to bring together media leaders, editors, and digital media specialists for three days of high-level exchange, workshops, and learning. The targeted conferences will provide attendees with the latest strategies and case studies to navigate the constantly evolving media landscape, making this Congress a must-attend event.

According to WAN-IFRA CEO Vincent Peyrègne, the Congress will showcase inspiring examples of organizations that have successfully integrated new technologies and are innovating through the use of data, AI tools, and collaborative action to support their operations and strengthen their journalism. He also emphasized the importance of discussing new tactics to uphold trusted journalism in a world where truth is losing its value.

Following the success of WAN-IFRA’s Congress in Copenhagen earlier this year, which brought together over 1,100 delegates from 78 countries, the organization is confident that the 76th World News Media Congress in Krakow will be an equally enriching experience.

Bartosz Hojka, CEO of the Agora Group and member of the Supervisory Board of WAN-IFRA, expressed his excitement about co-organizing the 2025 Congress. He stated that it is an honor for Agora to host media leaders, journalists, and editors from all over the world in Poland. He also highlighted the unique opportunity for attendees to visit a country that borders Ukraine, a nation currently fighting for the security of the entire continent, and that stood up against a populist government last year thanks to the dynamic and independent media. He believes that the experience will be extremely interesting for the global news industry.

WAN-IFRA CEO Vincent Peyrègne added, “Each year, we carefully plan the Congress’s program and location to ensure its purpose and significance. In 2025, we are proud to partner with Agora for the 76th World News Media Congress in Krakow. The city’s rich history and Poland’s pivotal role in the upcoming EU presidency make this Congress a significant event. We have a responsibility to draw international attention to the situation in this part of the world, and I am eager to work with the Agora Group to deliver a memorable experience for our delegates in Krakow.”
