24-Minute Rule for Cinemagoers: The Best Time to Arrive at the Theater to Skip Advertisements

As moviegoers eagerly anticipate the return of cinemas following closures due to the pandemic, many are wondering how long they can expect to wait before the main event actually begins.

To help answer this question, we have gathered information from the UK’s major cinema chains and consulted with industry experts.

According to Cineworld’s website, adverts and trailers typically run for 30-45 minutes before the actual film starts. The cinema also advises customers to arrive at least 20 minutes before the listed time to make the most of their visit.

Meanwhile, Odeon claims that the length of adverts and trailers is typically 15-25 minutes, but this can vary depending on the performance and may be considerably less.

At Everyman, the average wait time for ads and trailers is 25 minutes, but this may vary for special events and can range from 15-40 minutes.

Showcase, however, does not provide specific information on their website, but in response to a customer’s query on social media, they stated that ads and trailers are approximately 20-25 minutes long before each show.

Vue offers a more precise window, stating that most films have 20-25 minutes of ads and trailers before the feature starts. They recommend arriving at the stated time to avoid missing the start of the film.

With the cinema experience slowly returning to normal, it’s important for moviegoers to plan accordingly and arrive at the theatre with enough time to enjoy the full experience.
