2024 ANJOOL MALDE HONORS CELEBRATED

ANJOOL MALDE AWARDS 2024 Celebrates the Royal School of Arts (RSA) Awards Centenary

London, UK – Monday 29 July, 2024 – The 15th Anniversary of Anjool Malde’s passing saw 12 exceptional young individuals being awarded the Anjool Malde Awards for their remarkable achievements. Established in 2010 as a legacy to Anjool Malde (1984-2009), also known as Jools to his friends, the Trust annually recognizes and awards talented young individuals who have excelled in their respective fields in the UK.

The Anjool Malde Awards are given in six categories, with each winner receiving a monetary prize. The Trust encourages young individuals to strive for excellence in their careers and make a positive impact in their communities.

As a part of the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the Royal Society of Arts’ (RSA) Design Awards, which also fell in 2024, the Trust had the honor of presenting the Anjool Malde Young Centenary Designer Award to Rachel Cartledge of Edinburgh Napier University. Her short animation, “From The Ground-Up,” was a tribute to the previous Student Design Award winners and showcased their innovative works at the iconic RSA house in London.

The Trust also had the pleasure of collaborating with the RSA to offer an extra Centenary Design Award. Going forward, the Trust aims to align its annual Innovator Award with RSA’s Design for Life/RSA Spark Initiative, which was launched at the July Ceremony. The RSA expressed its gratitude to the Trust for their support in organizing the 100th Student Design Awards and delivering the Young Innovators Award.

The 2024 Anjool Malde Award winners were:

– Young Designer: Rachel Cartledge (Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland) for “From The Ground-Up”
– Young Innovator: Tess Taylor (Arts University Bournemouth, UK) for “Terra Hex”
– Young Journalist: Louise Simms and Sarah Morrison (1st year Broadcast Production) for their project on Search and Rescue
– Young Musician: Tiggy (Antigone) Blackwell for her dedication to jazz and organizing weekly performances at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff
– Young Photographer: Blair Kemp (Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland) for his photography portfolio
– Young Scholars: Martha Sainty (Geography), Aman de Silva (Chemistry), Grace Hall (Music), Long (Rhonda) Tse (Biochemistry), and Gabriella Moscona (Engineering) from St Peter’s College, Oxford
– Young Social Entrepreneur: Marco Tenconi for Rhyze Mushrooms Co-operative

The judges for the various categories praised the winners for their outstanding work and dedication to their respective fields. They also commended the Trust for recognizing and encouraging young talent.

The winners expressed their gratitude and excitement upon receiving the awards. They also acknowledged the Trust’s support and the opportunities that the awards have provided them in pursuing their careers.

The Trust also awarded the Anjool Malde Scholarship to five outstanding students from St Peter’s College, Oxford, who have not only achieved academic excellence but have also demonstrated a commitment to supporting their peers.

The Trust is thankful to all the sponsors, supporters, and well-wishers who have played a vital role in its mission. On the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of Anjool’s passing, the Trust extends its best wishes to all the winners and past recipients as they continue to excel in their chosen fields.
