Cumbrian Professionals Gear Up for Virtual Coast to Coast Corporate Challenge in Support of Local Causes

Cockermouth, Cumbria – A team of women from the Centre for Leadership Performance are preparing for a charity challenge on Cockermouth high street, determined to conquer the 171 mile Coast to Coast ordeal ahead of them.

Led by executive director Sarah Glass, the team is among dozens of intrepid Cumbrian professionals gearing up to tackle a virtual version of the UK’s most iconic long-distance challenges. The challenge, called the Virtual Coast to Coast Corporate Challenge, is in support of local good causes and is organized by the Cumbria Community Foundation to mark its 25th anniversary.

The challenge, which will be metaphorically launched on May 20, requires participants to complete 171 miles by any form of exercise that records mileage, such as walking, running, swimming, or using a static exercise bike or rowing machine. The challenge must be completed by July 1 and businesses across the county are encouraged to join in.

Sarah Glass and her colleagues at the Centre for Leadership Performance are excited to participate in the challenge and show their support for the Cumbria Community Foundation. “Over the years, we have been beneficiaries of some of their grants, enabling us to continue our work promoting lifelong learning and ensuring that better leadership equals better lives for the people of Cumbria,” said Glass.

The chief executive of the Cumbria Community Foundation, Andy Beeforth, hopes that the challenge will not only raise money for local causes, but also bring businesses and their staff together. “This is a brilliant way for businesses and our corporate supporters to raise money for local causes. We also hope it will be a fun way for companies and their staff to join together and give back to their community,” said Beeforth.

Businesses can register for the challenge online at https://www.cumbriafoundation.org/virtual-coast-to-coast-corporate-challenge-2024/. The Cumbria Community Foundation is confident that this challenge will be a success and is grateful for the support of businesses throughout the county.
